The course

Championship course at Il Pelagone Hotel & Golf Resort

Set between olive groves, tall cypresses and the gentle hills of the Tuscan Maremma, Golf Club Toscana is one of the most beautiful courses in Italy. The championship course, 18 holes and par 71, meets international standards and was named one of the ten best new golf courses in 2003.

The course is not especially long, but it sets experienced players plenty to think about: water in play on many holes, greens with plenty of borrow, carefully placed rough and several out of bounds areas ask for accuracy on every shot. The rolling ground keeps the putting, the chipping and the long game varied. At the 18th the view opens out over Elba and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

What defines the course

Water on many holes

Water comes into play exactly where a loose shot lands. Keep the ball on the fairway and the round stays comfortable.

Greens with plenty of borrow

The greens are hard to read and ask for precision, concentration and a strategic approach.

Rough and out of bounds

Carefully placed rough and several out of bounds areas make club selection matter from the tee onwards.

Open all year

The mild Tuscan climate keeps the course open all year, for beginners, keen club golfers and experienced players.

Scorecard

Par, stroke index and lengths for each hole

SI is the stroke index of the hole, the order in which handicap strokes are allocated. The scorecard lists the lengths from yellow for men and red for women: 5,542 metres and 4,804 metres over the round.

The course has six tees: white, yellow and green for men, blue, red and orange for women, each with a championship, a standard and a beginner tee. Both beginner tees are recommended up to handicap 36.

Etiquette on the course

So that the round stays enjoyable for everyone. Tee times, eligibility to play and dress code are settled at check-in at the club office.

Observe the Rules of Golf and never forget the etiquette.

Pace of play

Do not hold up play unnecessarily and always let faster groups through.

Pitch marks and divots

Take a pitchmark repairer out with you. Repair your pitch marks and replace your divots, that keeps the course in good order.

Keeping the course clean

Please drop no litter on the course, cigarette ends included. That keeps the fairways clean.

Distances

All distances on the course are measured to the centre of the green.

Practice facilities

Driving range & Toptracer, putting green, chipping green, practice bunker

The driving range is around 300 metres long and more than 100 metres wide and allows every kind of practice swing. The ball machines take coins or the Apollo app. The facility also holds the golf school, two putting greens, a green for pitching and chipping and a practice bunker.

Golf day trip to the neighbouring courses

For a golf day trip you travel by minivan to a neighbouring course: Golf Club Punta Ala, Golf Club Riva Toscana, Terme di Saturnia or Argentario Golf Club. Price on request from the club office.

Ask the club office about terms and green fee reductions at each partner club.

Golf Club Toscana

The clubhouse sits right at the resort. Tee times are booked online, while the club office handles competition entries, groups and any questions about the course.
